(AIIC) has pinpointed a rising problem in this area.
Changing legislation
The Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 came into effect in March
2019 and gave tenants new rights to be able to take action against landlords
who failed in their duty of care. Areas included in the legislation are
extensive and cover everything from water, draining and sanitation to mould,
electrical hazards, hygiene, overcrowding and much more.
